This is an old revision of the document!
IRCNow supports user privacy by allowing users to connect to most services using tor. Users can register anonymously using tor after a manual interview process.
Otherwise, to access our services, we may ask for your email address. We will also log your IP address and ident, and scan the IP for open proxies. These data are stored permanently to allow us to combat spam and abuse. If you have special privacy needs, you are welcome to contact staff over tor for an exception.
IRCNow does not log IRC chats. Staff members, however, have access to metadata such as which networks and channels your bouncer is joined to, as well as IPs used to connect. This metadata is used to prevent abuse. We allow guests to log public channels and private messages. Emails and files you store on our storage service may be archived permanently. Trusted staff have access to emails and files. IRCNow uses cookies to allow you to log in to our services.
We do not sell any personal information to third-parties. We will not share any user information with third-parties except as required by law.
IRCNow will not intervene when personal information is published unless there is a violation of privacy laws. We will delete material that is proven to be libellous or illegal. However, if it is factually correct, we will not intervene.
If you do not agree to the above policy, do not continue using our services. You should request for us to delete your account by mailing us at support@ircnow.org.
