Configuring virtual Ethernet interfaces

At times, you may find it helpful to create a vether(4) device. This vether interface, for example, can be used inside a bridge(4).

For example, we might create /etc/hostname.vether0:


Replace with the actual IP address you intend to use as the default gateway. Replace with the subnet mask.

Creating bridge device

Next we must create /etc/hostname.bridge0:

add vether0

This vether interface can now serve as the default gateway for tap interfaces generated by vmm that are connected by the bridge.
